The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has issued a warning against several companies claiming to be regulated by the ASIC. The regulator says it is familiar with websites showing or linking companies with fake ASIC registration certificates. These certificates look like official ASIC documents or use the ASIC logo but are fake because they contain information about companies that are not registered.
Fake documents include companies such as Global Capital Swiss Corp, COIN POBIT and A Glance Group LLC. Earlier this year, ASIC reported a growing number of fraudsters taking advantage of people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports of misconduct to ASIC over January/February 2021 increased by more than 200% compared to last year.
